The Trojan Horse Myth

In the Greek myth, during the Trojan War; a war that lasted almost ten years. The Greeks have tried to penetrate the heavily fortified walls of Troy with no luck. They have almost given up until a strategy was devised to break through.

The Greeks pretended to have surrendered and retreated back to sea while leaving a wooden horse figure as a peace offering and a gift to the gods for the Trojans. Upon seeing this, the Trojans began to rejoice that the decade long war had finally come to an end. They brought the wooden horse inside the heavily fortified city and celebrated their victory. When night fell, the Greeks came out of the wooden horse they were hiding in, opened the door for their fellow soldiers and thus taking over the city and winning the war.

The Trojan horse does exist today, except now it puts your computer at risk. When you receive programs from emails, they may look harmless such as movies, games, upgrades or e-cards, but are in fact Trojan Horse programs that give the attacker control of your computer.

The good news is that these programs can only affect your computer when you double click to open them. That's why you should always ask yourself is the source of where the file comes from trustworthy and always scan each file with an updated anti virus program.

Do not let a Trojan Horse get you and your computer.
